Monet ~ Melting Snow ~ 1870 |
In Early March
Those first Impressionists,
tracking light as if
it were an animal to catch
in nets of color,
or a tide that could be measured
on canvas instead of sand,
they knew what happens
in early March,
how the frozen page of earth
means nothing.
It is the light
that tell us
spring.
