Good Bones

The Tree on the Corner
I've seen
the tree on the corner
in spring bud
and summer green.
Yesterday
it was yellow gold.

Then a cold
wind began to blow.
Now I know--
you really do not see
a tree
until you see its bones.

  1. This year the leaves on my trees seemed to fall off in one day. I was afraid that after the hot, dry summer we had that we wouldn't get any beautiful fall colors but I needn't worry, nature came through and gave us a great show in our own back yard.
